- Officiated 1,219 regular season games, 116 playoff games, and one NBA Finals game.
- Officiated the 2000 All-Star Game and the 1992 and 1994 Mexico Challenge as well as the 1999 McDonald's Championship in Milan, Italy.
- Only official ever to have worked a high school state championship, an NCAA championship, an Olympic Gold Medal game and an NBA Finals game.
- Co-inventor of the "Fox-40 Whistle, " used by the NBA, FIBA, NCAA, NFL, NHL, CFL, FINA and FIFA.
- FIBA official since 1973; officiated the 1988 Olympic Gold Medal Game in Seoul, South Korea, and the Pan American Games.
- Seventeen years of collegiate officiating experience, including games in the Atlantic Coast, Atlantic 10, Big East, Southeastern and Sun Belt Conferences.
- Officiated five NCAA Championships, eight ACC Championships, three Atlantic 10 Championships, and six NCAA Regional Championship Games.
- Served as President of the ACC officials association in 1988.
- Naismith Award winner as 1988 Official of the Year and 1988 Smyrna Citizen of the Year.
- Fourteen years of high school officiating experience in Virginia, including the 1974 State Championship Game.
- Played professional baseball in the Cincinnati Reds organization in 1968 and 1969.
- Attended High Point University on a baseball scholarship and served as team captain.
- Financial Director at High Point College 1967-68 as well as the Assistant Director of Admissions.
- Voted outstanding athlete of his high school in 1961 after serving as captain of the baseball team.
- Achieved All-Nassau County honors in baseball and basketball in high school.
- Received the Panther Award for High School Athlete of the year 1961.
- Member of the USA Basketball Committee 1990-1999.
